Men in Black III Review
Men in Black III, a Sci-Fi motion picture filled with hilarious moments, action, and suspense was directed by Barry Sonnenfield and produced by Steven Spielberg. It is a trilogy of three movies that started in 1997 and has risen to blockbuster stardom. I have been a fan of this film series due to its action packed and comical storyline that occurs in all three movies. The plot surrounding all three movies deals with a secret government bureau called Men in Black (MIB). They protect the secret of aliens existing from mankind and keeping the peace between the two. The two main characters are secret agents K played by (Tommy Lee Jones) and J played by (Will Smith).
The plot of Men in Black III revolves around an alien named Boris the Animal (Jemaine Clement). He is a Boglodite the last of his deadly alien race, who once tried consuming every planet they came across. Boris has been imprisoned on top security Lunar Max prison for aliens on the earth’s moon. His whole time in prison he has been plotting to escape and go back in time to kill Agent K before he shoots his arm off. Yet this is not Boris’s entire devious scheme, which is to let his fellow Boglidites take over earth before being wiped out in the present time. He plans to prevent the defense shield called the “ArkNet” which Agent K puts up around the earth after defeating Boris and arresting him. Boris gets his hands on the time warp device after escaping and goes back in time, taking Agent K with him changing current time and altering the continuum. Agent J realizes the change and goes back in time to save “K” which is his “motivation”, before Boris kills him and takes over earth by destroying the “ArcNet”. Agent J arrives back in time eventually finding young Agent K who work together and bring down Boris the animal once and for all. This movie has a great twist that occurs, which is Agent J finding out who his father was and how he wasn’t abandoned but K knew who he was but didn’t tell J. So once again Agents K and J save planet earth from destruction and keep aliens under wraps.
The character dialogue was brilliant; it really showed the connection and bond between partners’ agents K and J. The dialogue between other characters the agents come across is very well done getting the point and story line across. Moving onto the theme of the movie which is knowing you can’t prevent death all the time and to not hold it against yourself, Agent J’s lesson. Also to not be stuck in the past and keep overwhelming secrets which is Agent K’s lesson.
The performances by Will Smith and Tommy Lee Jones were fantastic! They really had chemistry between them and both undoubtedly hilarious. The rest of the cast fit in well and also had great performances, keeping myself impressed with the directing. However it wasn’t just the cast that made the movie, the film editors and movie visual effects team must also be acknowledged. The way the film editors did the photography, screen displays, and light was superb. All these play into the grasp of the movie dragging you into every scene. The visual effects team was also outstanding in their rights. Each alien character animation was flawless with no over exaggeration and included realism to them all. The action scenes with animation were done to perfection having no faults or corny detail.
The costumes and make up were also a eye opening aspect. This is because it gave you a feeling of realism to the characters and suited their descriptions. Lastly the director did a phenomenal job with each scene giving the audience suspense, shock, action, and the well-designed comic relief. There wasn’t a point in the movie that was boring or dry. Men in Black did it again for the third time! Yet another blockbuster for the movies it is a must see film. It won’t leave you disappointed but have viewers asking for more. With a well written and performed film it truly is on the top must see list for any movie lover! I suggest this movie to everyone; it’s one of my favorite films and might end up being one of others as well.
